About the “Mechanics of Painting”

These classes can be attended as a series, or just pick a single class that you feel will benefit you as a standalone class. The series is designed to build from class to class so that each class will give you the tools and experience for the following classes. This series is aimed at beginner and intermediate painters, but artists or budding artists of all levels are welcome. The class size is limited to give the student a more one-on-one experience. We are planning to conduct one class a month.

“The Mechanics of Painting: Painting 3 Dimensional Shapes  With Light and Shadow”

6 Hour Class

The second class of the series deals with the techniques of painting 3 dimensional objects. We will be using dark and light in grey tones to explore and decipher the seeming mysteries of making objects appear to “lift” off the page in 3 dimensions. This is a hands on class designed to give you a better understanding of the basic building blocks of this process: light, shadow, and contrast. The small size of the class affords a more one-on-one experience. We will be using acrylics, but the exercises are applicable to any painting media.

“The Mechanics of Painting:
Giving Your Inner Critic A Day Off (Painting with Time Limits) "

6 Hour Class

Class Description:

Starting and completing a painting within set time limits can free us from the sometimes open ended process of not knowing what to do next in our paintings.  We have a hard time making decisions about what we "need" to do rather than just doing it.  This class will touch on strategies for giving our indecisive inner critic a time out so that we can just paint!  This is a hands-on class.  All materials included.

Make Up/Rescheduled Classes/Gift Certificate Classess

Since the space in each class is limited to 5 people there is no refund per se for a missed class.  By paying and reserving your spot and not attending, you will have effectively taken that space away from someone else who might wish to attend.

If you have purchased a space for a class and are unable to attend that class AND have notified me at least one day prior to your scheduled class, you may take a Make Up class.  Make-up classes are only available if there are spaces left the evening before a scheduled class.  You will need to contact me the evening before another scheduled class  to see if there is availability.

**If you are the recipient of a Gift Certificate, please contact me a.s.a.p. with your preferred class, but no later than the Friday preceding a scheduled class.
